We’ve all been there: a friend or a client calls with a technical issue, and they describe it in the most confusing way possible. Instead of wasting time trying to decipher their explanation, I usually just say, “Hey, open AnyDesk.”
Most people use AnyDesk for basic remote viewing, but if you dig a little deeper, there are some “aha!” features that turn it into a powerhouse for support and productivity. In this guide, I’m sharing the tricks I use daily to make remote sessions smoother and more professional.

1. Unattended Access (No “Accept” Button Needed)
If you need to access your home PC from the office or manage a remote server, you can’t wait for someone to sit there and click “Accept.”
The Fix: Go to Settings > Security and enable Unattended Access. Set a strong password, and you can log in anytime just by entering that password. It’s a total game-changer for managing your own systems remotely.
2. Privacy Mode: Work in Secret
Sometimes you’re performing a complex configuration or installing sensitive software, and you don’t want the remote user watching every move you make.
AnyDesk has a Privacy Mode (the shield icon) that turns the remote screen black. The user won’t see what you’re doing, but you’ll have full control. Just make sure the remote user selects “Allow to enable privacy mode” when they first accept your request.
3. High-Speed File Transfers
Did you know you don’t even need the “File Transfer” window? You can simply Copy (Ctrl+C) a file on your local PC and Paste (Ctrl+V) it directly onto the remote desktop. It works for text, too! If the internet is slow, you can also head to the lightning bolt icon and prioritize “speed” over “quality” to keep the session responsive.
4. The “Switch Sides” Feature
This is one of those “cool” features people often miss. Imagine you are helping a colleague, and suddenly you want to show them something on your screen. Instead of disconnecting and starting a new session, just click the Lightning Bolt > Switch Sides.
The roles reverse instantly: they see your screen, and you become the presenter.
5. Pro Tools: Drawing and Recording
- Whiteboard: Use the pen tool to draw circles or arrows on their screen. It makes explaining “Click this button” so much easier when you can actually point to it.
- Session Recording: If you’re performing a task the user needs to learn, hit the record button. They can play it back later in AnyDesk and follow your steps.
